I agree Tidal is not a threat to any of those services(paid users). I can't speak on Google Play subs. I think the problem with Tidal started with that press release with all those artists on stage pretty much saying "y'all need to pay is more for our music" it's was like a undercover boohoo fest.

 

They just aren't forcing people hand with their music staying strictly on their service and not to be listened or bought from other digital outlets. I would consider subscribing to them if they fixed that crap interface and had a radio feature.

There certainly are a lot of different forms of lossless. Tidal, from what I've read online, is preparing to begin streaming MQA, which I've also read is going to reduce bandwidth. There are those who think if Tidal can be successful with this, or that in general HD audio streaming demand grows, other streaming services such as Apple, etc., may begin offering HD audio streams, whether flac, alac, among others.

 

If this happens, perhaps carriers will need to look on how it might impact their networks compared with mainstream mp3 audio streaming. Despite my own support and hope that HD audio streaming grows, I do have to wonder about the general need for this. I certainly hear the difference, particularly with a good dac/amp, and believe others will too, but really what this growth needs is a strong music market, and that is the weak link in this growth.

 

There is very little going on in music nowadays as it is. Nothing really exciting going on anymore. Things have really changed from the 50s, 60s,70s, 80s, and 90s with the internet and other technologies changing society, and while there are those who appreciate music, it isn't such the force in society that it once was, and for what it is, most people are happy enough with mp3. I certainly acknowledge that, despite hoping for some convergence to a higher standard. Yet, the general drive towards it isn't there being driven by the music industry, for sure. My hope is, and as I believe will be driven by the technology industry to get these standards up.

Six this year no. The 4th isn't even planned. Only plans more B41 towers that don't have it, small cells hopefully macro sites. Along with B41 3XCA possible B25 CA. 4x4 mimo 256 qam.

8T8Rs support up to 6 carriers. They just have to do testing for each additional carrier. Sprint has more than enough spectrum for 6 Band 41 carriers in most of the top 50 markets IIRC. But this does NOT mean 4x or 5x or 6xCA. That won't happen for a while, as 8T8Rs can't do 4x/5x/6xCA without current software.

 

But unless plans have changed recently, they're going to stop at 3 carriers for most sites and add more as needed site-by-site. i.e. 3 carriers will be the default and they can do up to 6 if the site is heavily used (middle of a city, single site covering an airport or mall, etc).

 

They won't do 6 on all sites because the backhaul is twice as expensive and the vast majority of sites will never need 400+gbps of capacity. 3 carriers offer ~200gbps max per sector and they can always go back and add carriers as needed.

 

As far as timeline goes, I kinda doubt they can test another 3 carriers across 3 sets of B41 gear in one year if the last 3 take as long as the first 3.

I'm in an ALU/Nokia-A market so I'm not great at recognizing non-ALU 8T8Rs, but I'm pretty sure the lower right antenna in the first image is an 8T8R.

I'm actually not sure about that (the 26 antenna ports don't look hooked up) but that's hard to tell from the pictures. But yeah those are 8T8Rs.

Ya, El Paso is not approved yet for 800mhz... so I wouldn't expect them to be hook up, but at least knowing the equipment is up their makes it a whole lot better

4 unique EARFCNs from the same site with the same serving cell and nearly identical RSRP levels. With one of them being 100 MHz separated from the three contiguous carriers (39926 vs 40978+41176+41374).

    • Yes! That does keep it from wandering off Dish and most importantly, reconnecting immediately (at least where there is n70). Thanks!
    • I have my Dish phone locked to NR-only.  That keeps it on Dish and only occasionally will it see T-Mobile NR SA for brief periods before going to no service. I also don't have mine band locked beyond that, except that I have some of the unused bands turned off just to try to reduce scan time.  Fortunately, my Dish phone is the one with the MediaTek chipset, so it has NR neighbor cells, and I can usually see n71, n70, n66, and sometimes n29 (market-dependent) through those regardless of which band it's connected to as primary. - Trip
    • Excuse my rookie comments here, but after enabling *#73#, it seems that the rainbow sim V2? requires n70 (I turned it off along with n71 - was hoping to track n66) to be available else it switches to T-Mobile.  So this confirms my suspicion that you need to be close to a site to get on Dish.  Have no idea why they don't just use plmn. To test, I put it into a s21 ultra, rebooted twice, came up on T-Mobile (no n70 on s21).  Tried to manually register on 313340, but it did not connect (tried twice). I am on factory unlocked firmware but used a s22 hack to get *#73# working.  Tried what you were suggesting with a T-Mobile sim partially installed, but that was very unstable with Dish ( I think they had figured that one out).  [edit: and now I see Boost sent me a successful device swap notice which says I can now begin to use my new device.  Sigh.  Will try again later and wait for this message - too impatient.]
    • Hopefully this indicates T-Mobile hasn't completely abandoned mmwave and/or small cells? But then again this is the loop, so take that as you will. Hopefully now that most macro activity is done (besides rural colo/builds), they will start working on small cells.
